Saumsung: Fitness
Role
Lead Designer: I was brought onto the team in early 2020 to lead the product design of Samsung Fitness mobile & wearable applications while collaborating across TV & web. The fitness project was a competitor to Apple Fitness and Peloton tailored to the Samsung ecosystem. We successfully developed the “MVP” version of the multi-device experience, reaching our Beta launch milestone in early 2021.
Context
I collaborated with a cross-functional team on ideation, design, and implementation of the end-to-end mobile experience for the Keo Fit application. I worked closely with product on strategy, research on usability testing, engineering on implementation and brand on visual design & motion.

What is Keo Fit?
Digital fitness is transforming quickly but without the personal touch of in-person workout experiences. What if we could create a digital experience that feels like you are going to your favorite gym or studio?
Keo Fit is a two-sided fitness platform designed to connect people to inspiration, guidance, and coaching from the world's fitness community. A fitness platform connecting people to personalized and community-oriented fitness experiences at home, powered by an open community of individual trainers.
Opportunity
Today, there’s an unprecedented imperative to ‘virtualize’ fitness, and Samsung already has a tangible footprint in people’s lives and homes via phone, wearables, and TV.
Usability & Concept Testing
The goal for testing was to move away from using the TestFlight and Firebase builds and into Figma for quicker turnaround on insights & signal. We tested current features and conceptual ideas, including an FTUX flow where we experimented with new flows for the paywall and onboarding sequence.
I prototyped the end-to-end experience and moderated multiple user testing sessions. I implemented new design ideas after each test to help with usability errors. This new rapid prototype testing format helped the team move away from an “execution” culture and allowed us to validate ideas before implemented, saving dev time and resources.
Future Facing Ideas
After our beta launch and user testing sessions, we focused on how we could truly differentiate our offering through software & hardware. The goal was to create more custom workouts that were easily tailored to user needs while allowing fitness trainers to scale their content. We focused on clip-based workouts with a live trainer "drop-in" component. We explored scheduling on-demand classes to create a sense of community without the trainers actually going "live" every time. This allowed members of a class to connect via social features, such as reactions and chat before/after a session.
We also explored how we may differentiate our offering with hardware and technology. Exploring concepts around large-scale monitors, LiDAR sensors, and machine learning that would create a "smart" experience that was reactive to the user.
